Protien Skimmers will remove Dissolved Organic Compounds (DOC) from the pond water.
DOC's can cause a scum on the pond surface, make the water have a tinge, and removing DOC's will increase oxygen levels, and also improve growth rates.
You will get a much better performance from your ozone unit if you incorporate a protien skimmer into your set up. |
 The protein skimmer is a combination of three different filter systems. The filter operates biological, mechanical and chemical. The principle of skimming salt water is not new and has been successfully used for years in aquarium filtration. Thanks to the unique, patented, design of the Tornado protein skimmer, it is now possible to apply the principle of protein skimming in fresh water.
The filter has various advantages:
- Stabilizes pH
- Removes colourants
- Increases dissolved oxygen
- Not dependant on bacteria, works as soon as the pump is running
- Prevents fish diseases as a result of bad water quality
