Sieve Filters work by lifting solid matter out of the water. The pond water runs direct from the bottom drain, or skimmer, and runs down a fine sieve plate. Tiny ridges break the surface tension of the water, and blanket weed, uneaten food, fish waste, and even parasites can be picked up. Because they are out of the water, they will not be putting any extra ammonia in the pond system as they decay.
