Water direct from the tap can contain contaminants that are harmful to fish. Chlorine and Chloramine, are added to the water as disinfectants, and can burn the skin of the koi, and also damages gills.
As well as chlorine and chloramine, there can be metals, fertilizers, pesticides and other toxic chemicals in the water.
We must remove these pollutants using a water purifier, or using 'dechlorinator'. |
