Heating your pond is important for the health of the koi. At low temperatures, the koi's immune system shuts down and the koi become targets for parasites, bacterial, and fungal infections. Sudden temperature fluctuations can also cause stress and lead to further problems.
There are two ways of heating your pond.
Gas heating will require a boiler, a heat exchanger, and a thermostat. And of course ways of controlling the boiler and a gas supply. The initial cost is also higher.
Electric heating is cheaper in the short term, but the cost of heating by electricity is higher than gas heating.
Both methods will require correct installation by a qualified tradesman. |
