Latest New

8th June 2011

We attended the East Pennine Koi show on the weekend of the 4th and 5th June, holding a trade stand and helping several customers take koi to the show. The Friday was very busy, with work finishing around 11pm and starting Saturday at 6am! Our customers did very well, taking 1st's, 2nd's, and Best in Varieties.

Below is a video for the East Pennine Koi Show made by Ryan Coogan of Jancentan Ltd. We are a stockist of the new FOOKOO foods, which have been used to feed several European Grand Champion Nishikigoi.

17th May 2011

Our latest shipment of Niigata koi, handpicked from the breeders, has settled well and is in week 3 of quarantine. We have 100+ Jumbo tosai to select from, including Kohaku, Sanke, Showa, Kujaku, Shiro Utsuri and many more koi from 15cm to 25cm in many varieties.

These koi will be available on the 28th and 29th May. We are having an open weekend, with Evolution Aqua attending on the Saturday and Jancentan on the Sunday.

1st May 2011

Our major spring Niigata shipment has arrived, all in good condition including 3 80cm+ Sanke!

I had Niigata to myself as the only British Dealer out there at that time - and for several weeks too. I made selections from Marudo, Shintaro, Kaneko and Aoki. I concentrated my money on just 4 breeders to get better deals.

My blog was well read (thankyou!) and hope you enjoyed it. I do hope to fill in the 'tourist' info promised.

The Momotaro Showa and Hybrid Tosai are well settled and feeding well, some are growing already!

9th April 2011

We have received our shipment from the south of Japan. The Yohei Hybrid Sanke and Kohaku look fantactic - some Tanchos included!

There are extra Momotaro fish, we have Showa, Sanke and Kohaku, one Bekko and some Tancho.

Unfortunately, the Omosaku Shiro Utsuri we were expecting we not ready for shipping just yet. Of course we are disappointed as these koi sell really well, and the breeder turns out some fantastic Utsuri.

I fly to Japan on the 10th April, be sure to check out my blog at www.kokugyo.co.uk to view my selections. You will find videos and photos of the breeders and their koi. I can be emailed or contacted via my blog regarding any koi you see, or are looking for. Shipping is due for 27th April - perfect for getting new koi on the show circuit this year!

7th April 2011

We have koi arriving from Yohei/Hybrid, Omosako and Momotaro on Friday 8th April. This shipment is our first of 2011 - after the earthquake things haven't moved through Japan as fast as we would have hoped.

Yohei koi are exclusive to Kitsu Koi in the north of England. They are developed by the Mamouru and Yohei Nagasaki by in breeding the white magoi into traditional Sanke and Kohaku bloodlines to create jumbo koi with excellent lustre and body. The incrossing of the white magoi produces koi that eat with vigour into the later years, and grow faster then most Niigata koi. The accelerated growth allows the koi to have a much more youthful appearance at show sizes when compared to fish from Niigata.

Omosako are widely regarded as the greatest breeder of Shiro Utsuri. They have taken many top awards with their tategoi in Japanese koi shows and koi shows through Europe. We have two grades of Omosako koi coming on this shipment, ideal for growing on.

Almost every hobbyist is aware of Momotaro and their reputation for breeding high class koi. Their Sanke line is in my opinion one of the best in Japan, and their Showa and Kohaku are outstanding too. We have just 50 of their koi arriving, mostly Sanke with a couple of Tancho's in the mix!
