Koi Pond Filter Media: Zeolite & oyster Shell
Oyster shell is used as a buffer to maintain stable pH and KH within a closed pond. It works by slowly dissolving into the water, raising/maintaining KH, which acts a buffer against pH drops. Using Oyster shell in a trickle/shower style filter helps it breakdown quicker, or using in a multi bay or vortex type system in a heavily aerated chamber.
Zeolite works by absorbing ammonia from the water. Ideally used in a new quarantine system in case of emergency, it will help reduce ammonia to lower levels, so the filter can try and catch up. DO NOT USE WITH SALT.
