Ammonia is the most toxic pollutant involved in the nitrogen cycle, and should be tested for weekly.
Nitrite can be lethal at high levels over a long period of time, and should be tested alongside ammonia.
The pH of the water should be known at all times, as the acidity of the pond can affect other test readings and the health of the koi and filter bacteria colonies.
N.T. Labs test kits are easy to use, however the Kusuri offer a better level of accuracy. N.T. Labs are a liquid based test kit, whereas Kusuri have opted for a tablet based kit.
Refills are available for the Kusuri test kits.
