Koi Pond Filter Media

Filter medias are placed in the filter to provide mechanical filtrations (brushes/sponges) or boilogical filtration (alphagrog/flocor).

Some medias, such as K1 and K3 from Evolution Aqua/Kaldness can work in both ways if the filter system is designed correctly, or you use and Evolution Aqua filter unit, such as the Eazy Pod, Nexus 210 or Nexus 310

Modern plastic medias generally offer massive surface areas for biological filtration, and are easy to clean due to their light weight.

Ceramic medias offer amazing surface area for a given volume, and are most used in trickle/shower filter type applications.

Oyster Shell can be used to buffer water if you have trouble with pH.

Zeolite is an ammonia absorber, ideal in a new quarantine system for example.
